MS SQL
SQL stands for Structured Query Language. It the programming
language used to access and update data in a database.
There are many types of database available however, I work with
Microsoft SQL Databases. MS SQL fits tightly with the Microsoft
.Net Framework and shares many of the advantages.
I'm not a Database Administrator, but as with most developers,
knowing how to design, build and implement an SQL database design
is must if you are going to do anything useful.
I've got over 8 years of experience. I've designed databases
from scratch, integrated with existing databases, helped with
database performance issues, redesigned and migrated SQL
databases.
MS SQL is not a speciallity of mine, I leave that to the DBA's,
but is it an important skill. And it's a skill I practice and
improve constantly as there are often no DBA's around when you need
one!
